- Multiple level SDAIE strategies are applied through the ITU. For this unit students will be able to collaborate in think pair shares, group projects and presentations, visual aids, and allowed extra time on assignments. Our students with special needs are also given note outlines to accompany any direct instruction and power point presentation. This allows the students, who need it, the equitable opportunity to keep up with notes and still be able to listen to the lecture while viewing the visual support. Content specific vocabulary can also be very tricky for all students. To accommodate our students with special needs in this arena, the vocabulary is presented in a variety of ways. For example, the vocabulary will be give in a definition manner, then reinforced with a visual analogy representation of the term. The assignments will reinforce this by asking the students to use the term in a variety of ways, promoting mastery and ownership of the content vernacular instead of a read and recite.
